Driving Impact Through Sustainable Procurement: EcoVadis and Sustainability to Action Convene Executive Roundtable in Abu Dhabi

Picture

On 14 January 2026, senior leaders from across the public and private sectors will gather in Abu Dhabi during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week for a strategic executive roundtable on sustainable procurement.
Hosted in partnership by EcoVadis and Sustainability to Action, the session will explore how responsible procurement and finance can drive measurable ESG impact, value-chain resilience, and progress toward the UAE’s low-carbon and economic transformation goals.

Sustainability leaders, procurement executives and senior decision-makers will convene on 14 January 2026 for a high-level roundtable on Sustainable Procurement titled “Driving Impact: Integrating Responsible Procurement and Finance in the UAE’s Low-Carbon Economy”, held in the capital of the UAE; Abu Dhabi, during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026).

The roundtable is organised in partnership between EcoVadis, the global standard for resilient, sustainable supply chains, and Sustainability to Action (STA), a sustainability and natural capital consultancy based in Abu Dhabi. It will bring together senior public and private sector stakeholders to explore how responsible procurement and finance can accelerate progress towards national and regional sustainability objectives.

The discussion builds on insights from a recent EcoVadis White Paper and survey, designed specifically with a primary focus on the UAE and the wider GCC region. The research examines emerging trends in sustainable procurement and supply-chain decarbonisation, highlighting both progress and persistent gaps between ambition and implementation. Its findings are particularly relevant as organisations across the region seek to operationalise ESG commitments, manage Scope 3 emissions, and strengthen value-chain resilience in line with national climate and economic diversification strategies.

Early findings indicate growing momentum in sustainable procurement across the Gulf region, with organisations demonstrating increasing commitment to embedding ESG practices within their purchasing and supply-chain decisions. The White Paper highlights how data-driven procurement approaches , enhanced supplier engagement and collaboration, and stronger alignment between procurement, sustainability, and finance functions are playing a vital role in advancing meaningful and measurable ESG outcomes.

Pierre-François Thaler, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of EcoVadis, said:
“The UAE and the wider GCC are demonstrating strong ambition when it comes to sustainability and economic transformation. Our regionally focused research shows that sustainable procurement is a powerful lever for turning that ambition into action. By embedding responsible sourcing and value-chain transparency into procurement and finance decisions, organisations can reduce risk, accelerate decarbonisation and create long-term value. We look forward to a constructive and forward-looking dialogue in Abu Dhabi.”

Saeed Al Zarooni, Group Chief Procurement Officer at e&, said:

“Sustainability has been a key strategic pillar of the organisation throughout its transformation. Sustainable procurement is where ambition becomes measurable progress. At e&, we’re embedding ESG KPIs into category strategies, using data to engage suppliers and track performance, and working closely with finance to link sourcing decisions to Scope 3 reduction and long-term value.”

The roundtable will be a highly engaging and collaborative discussion, bringing together key insights from the White Paper and exploring practical and strategic opportunities for organisations across the region. The conversation will focus on shared challenges, priorities, and actionable steps to help advance sustainable procurement in line with the UAE’s and wider GCC’s low-carbon[1]  and economic transformation goals.

Sustainability to Action (STA) proudly participated in two major sustainability dialogues this October. At the IUCN Business and Nature Summit (October 8, Abu Dhabi), STA co-organised and facilitated the “Natural Capital for Business Decision-Making” showcase in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group (ADSG) and the Capitals Coalition, featuring UAE companies sharing real-world cases on integrating natural capital into strategy and finance .

Later that week, STA joined the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week series at ADNEC for “Unlocking Confidence: Natural Capital in Business Decisions” , a participatory fishbowl dialogue bringing together UAE and global leaders to explore how businesses are aligning with Target 15 of the Global Biodiversity Framework and advancing nature-positive transformation.
ADSG Flagship Report: On the Path to Nature-Positive and Net-Zero
Sustainability to Action contributed to the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group’s (ADSG) latest flagship report, “Capacity Building on Natural Capital Valuation for Business Decision Making.” The report highlights how organisations in the UAE are integrating natural capital into their sustainability strategies, with STA supporting programme design, content, and organisational insights.
